Amade Pouya is the founder of Fracsima. His long research and teaching career in the field of materials and structures began at the École Polytechnique in Paris in 1991. He is now professor of geomechanics at the École des Ponts Paris Tech and research professor at the Gustave Eiffel University.

His research and teaching activities cover the theoretical and numerical modelling of coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical processes in geomaterials, specially the non-linear and anisotropic deformation of geomaterials; plasticity, creep and damage. His cutting-edge research focuses on numerical modeling of fractured materials and fracture propagation. The industrial applications of his research are mainly in the field of deep tunnels, nuclear waste disposal, storage in salt caverns, CO2 sequestration, hydraulic fracturing and induced seismicity in reservoir engineering.

Origin: Research activities at Ecole Polytechnique (France) on nuclear waste disposal

1992-2002: A team of around fifteen researchers, including Amade Pouya, has worked on numerical modeling of a wide variety of processes in different rock formations studied by ANDRA, the French Agency for Nuclear Waste Disposal).

This research covered and explored almost all numerical methods for non-linear deformation of materials (plasticity, damage and creep) coupled with thermal and hydraulic processes. The first lines of the code which later became Disroc were written in this period.

2009-2015: First attempts to create commercial software by a team led by Amade Pouya, Professor at the Ecole des Ponts Paris Tech, and made up of his former students and colleagues at the École Polytechnique and ANDRA,

2016: Creation of Fracsima for the development and commercial distribution of Disroc

2016 - Present: Disroc has experienced rapid development and is used for a wide range of research works, teaching activities and engineering applications.
